Abstract

The image segmentation particularly refers to the breaking up of digital image into number of segments. The each segment of an image may be termed as region or a category which is equivalent to different object or part of it. It is the most important step in the image analysis. If the segmentation is good the analysis can be made quite easily. Segmentation bridges the gap between low-level image processing and the high-level image processing. The main aim of this process is to recognize the objects even better so as to provide accuracy. It has a wide variety of applications such as in the medical field which helps to do surgery, diagnosis, and to locate any tumors. It has wide spread applications in recognition, forensic science and traffic control systems. There are various algorithms to do segmentation of the image in this paper we concentrate on FCM based algorithm for the segmentation.
